App settings
The defaults every new session starts with, and where Billet keeps its settings and logs.

- Users
- Applies to
- Billet 1.0
- Updated
Open settings with Ctrl + , (on a Mac, Command + ,). Changes save as you make them. Press Esc to go back to your desktops.
These are defaults for the next session. To change something during a session, use the session window's menus. See During a session.
Display
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Frame rate | 30 (the default) or 60 frames a second. Fewer frames give a sharper picture at the same bandwidth. 60 is smoother for video and fast motion. |
| Screens | How many of the desktop's monitors to open windows for. Each one costs bandwidth and a video encoder on the host, so ask for what you will look at. |
| Reduce colour detail | Spends fewer bits on colour. Leave it off for photos, video, or matching brand colours. |
| Slow down in the background | Drops to one frame a second while the session window is not in front. |
Audio
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Play sound in the background | Off by default, so a session you are not looking at stays quiet. |
Advanced
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Video codec | Leave this on Automatic, which lets your computer and the desktop agree on the best codec both can do. Pin one only if your IT team asks you to. |
