Assignment: giving a desktop to a person, so it appears in their list. A desktop has one owner.

Billet app: the desktop app people install on Windows or Mac to see and open their desktops.

Billet Host: the Windows program that makes a machine a desktop people can connect to. It runs as the Billet host agent service.

Billet Stats Agent: the service that reports a machine's health to the portal and keeps its credential current. Installed with Billet Host, or on its own on an Amazon DCV desktop, and beside each relay.

Certificate authority (CA): the portal's own authority, which issues certificates to hosts and relays. Not the portal's public HTTPS certificate.

Console: the administrators' side of the portal, at /console.

Credential: what a host or relay proves itself with after it has enrolled. Kept on the machine.

Deployment: one portal (with any number of nodes), its relays and its hosts. It has one license and one certificate authority.

Deployment ID: the identifier a license is issued for.

Desktop: a machine as people see it in Billet: a name, a status and an owner.

Direct connection: a session that goes straight from a person's computer to the host, on UDP 4455.

Enrollment: a host or relay joining the portal for the first time, with a one-time enrollment token.

Host: a machine people connect to.

Network Stats: the session window's overlay showing frame rate, bandwidth, round-trip time and a verdict on the connection.

Operator: an administrator who signs in to the console. A system administrator manages the whole deployment; a tenant administrator manages one tenant.

Portal: the server that signs people in, knows which desktops each person may use, and hands out sessions.

Relay: the server that carries a session when the person and the host cannot reach each other directly.

Session: one person connected to one desktop, from Connect until they close the window.

Single sign-on (SSO): signing in through your organization's identity provider, over SAML 2.0. A tenant's sign-on connection is its link to one identity provider.

SCIM: the standard identity providers use to create, update and deactivate people in Billet automatically.

Tenant: an organization, department or client inside one deployment, with its own people, desktops and single sign-on.

Ticket: a one-time .billet file or billet:// link that opens a session in the Billet app.

Trust list: the Billet app's list of deployments' certificate authorities it trusts.
